Before she became the first Somali-American woman and one of the first two Muslim women elected to the US House of Representatives in 2018, Ilhan Omar was vying to represent district 60B in Minnesota’s State House of Reps in 2016 in a historic election that proved grassroots efforts really can work.
And now, Time for Ilhan, Fuse’s documentary film about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s groundbreaking 2016 campaign, has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Documentary (Television)!
Congratulations to director Norah Shapiro the team behind Time for Ilhan, and be sure to tune in this weekend for the 50th NAACP Awards!
