Yella Beezy has been on quite the come-up this year. With a track on the Billboard Hot 100 and an opening spot for Beyoncé and Jay Z’s On the Run II Houston show, the Texas rapper’s hard work is paying off.
Originally an independent rapper, Beezy made his success when a local Dallas radio station included his song, “That’s on Me,” in their rotation. He went on to with indie label Hitco and is a reminder that in a world where the internet has allowed rappers to directly access fans and opportunities, the traditional route of radio play can still work.
Clearly Yella Beezy is doing well for himself, but is there anything he doesn’t do well with? Well, being left on “Read” might be one of them. He joined us for an episode of Rant and Rave, and boy does he have some strong feelings about the iMessage faux pas.
“Read my sh-t and do reply back, fu-k you and whoever beside you you’re reading the motherf--ker with ya,” he says.
