Heems Shares Tearful, Joyful "Damn Girl" Vid, Starts 'Eat Pray Thug' Tour
Heemy Heems Himanshu Suri gifted us one of the best rap albums of 2015. The impeccably titled Eat Pray Thug is still in steady rotation three months later, and now we've been blessed with "Damn Girl," the follow-up music video to "Sometimes," which explored insidious skin-lightening cultures in America and India.
Here, the Queens rapaissance man, Das Racist alum and Greedhead Records founder and CEO works through his trance-inducing breakup song in an empty, dimly art gallery—one that was set up to celebrate and complement the release of Eat Pray Thug. Heems has snaky dance moves for days, but the real takeaway is how emotionally wrung out our hero's looking in these moments. "Damn Girl" is a standout, standalone cut in Suri's deep-as-shit, quirky-as-fuck discography; the video, codirected by Heems and Ben Dickinson, keeps pace.
