Fall Out Boy Play Wimpy-But-Clever Gladiators in "Centuries" Video
UPDATE (11/3): After watching the impressive gladiator-themed music video, make sure to check out the behind-the-scenes footage here! In the clip we learned Fall Out Boy filmed the "Centuries" video in a real fortress in Canada and performed their own stunts (for the most part). Impressive stuff!
Original Story: Throughout the week, we've seen Fall Out Boy in two different music videos: The band makes a quick cameo at the beginning of their "Immortals" video; plus Patrick Stump quickly appears in the visual for his Robert Glasper Experiment collab "I Stand Alone." But if you feel like you've been robbed, fear not FOB fans because the guys have more than made up for their lack of screen time in the just-unveiled "Centuries" vid.
Watch what might be the band's most cinematic visual to date, opening with the guys shown as four enslaved gladiators that are slipped battle items by a mysterious hooded man before they're taken to the coliseum. The boys attempt to battle a mastodon of a man to the death—and get their asses kicked—before realizing the cloaked man gave them the essential parts of a sling shot and shoot a pebble directly into their opponents skull. Score!
The story line might particularly resonate with FOB and their fans, who last year saw the band stage one of the biggest comebacks, prevailing over anyone who thought they might be a washed-up, pop-punk band despite the odds. (But as we know, pop-punk never dies.)
