Like Adele and Emeli Sande, Ella Henderson is the latest British powerhouse to be reckoned with—just listen to her soar through her soulful debut single "Ghost" (below), a No. 1 in her native U.K. Now, the 18-year-old is making waves stateside.
Just like the aforementioned singers, Henderson's singles go deeper than your usual pop song. "Ultimately, 'Ghost' is used as a metaphor to represent someone or something that's got a hold over you," the former U.K. X Factor finalist explains of the stirring release. "You can't eat, you can't sleep, it's tormenting you. You just want to run away from it, but you can't. The way I relate to it, it's this sense of frustration of not knowing what's right or what's wrong."
