Watch Bruce Springsteen Cover Lorde's "Royals"
How does Bruce Springsteen kick-off his second-ever live performance in New Zealand (last one was 11 years ago)? By covering Lorde, of course!
The Boss and the E Street Band, currently on tour in Australia and New Zealand, performed at Mt. Smart Stadium, in Auckland, which is the 17-year-old’s hometown. So, naturally, Springsteen paid her an acoustic tribute by covering her No. 1 hit “Royals.”
There was one slight change to the pop track. Instead of singing “you can call me queen bee” he said “king bee.” Bruce, always, the perfectionist. And you can add his "Royals" rendition to his long list of awesome covers of all-time. A coupe of weeks back, in Perth, Australia, Springsteen covered AC/DC's classic "Highway to Hell," a beloved Aussie creation.
The band ends this leg of the tour tonight, again at Mt. Smart Stadium, before returning to perform in the States for five weeks starting in early April. Perhaps he can sing "Team" tonight? Come on, Bruce!
