Portugal. The Man Tease 2014 Lollapalooza Set

With the full lineup for Lollapalooza 2014 out now—including headliners EminemOutKast and Kings of Leon—we can finally share our recent interview with Portugal. The Man, which finds the Alaskan rockers teasing their Lolla 2014 setlist plans.

"A festival setlist needs to be something people can understand—it's gotta move," singer John Gourley tells Fuse. "Playing slower tracks at a festival is kind of weird. It has to be a setlist that moves, with not too many breaks and [some] covers."

The Evil Friends band tells Fuse why the Chicago festival is especially meaningful to them. "Chicago is one of the first cities that ever gave us the time of day. Some of our first sold-out shows were in Chicago," Gourley says. "When we started this band, we never expected we'd play something like Lollapalooza. Not because we didn’t want to, but because it just seemed so far off. For two kids from Alaska, you'd never see that coming. So to play it a third time is a huge, huge deal for us."

Bassist Zachary Carothers tells Fuse which artists he's stoked to see at Lollapalooza 2014: "Eminem, OutKast, Nas, Lorde and Broken Bell… er, Broken Bells," he says, laughing after Gourley points out his mistake. Anyone else? Oh yeah: "And Portugal. The Man is playing."
