Gorillaz Unveil Previously Unreleased Track "Whirlwind"
Gorillaz's Damon Albarn was a guest DJ on BBC Radio 2 this weekend and thought it'd be the perfect time to unveil a previously unreleased track, "Whirlwind." The song was originally slated to appear on the band's 2010 album, Plastic Beach.
At only a minute and 41 seconds, the track, featuring the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra, sounds more like an interlude than a full-blown song. But Gorillaz fans will gladly take it--last year Albarn told the Guardian the experimental rock duo was over. "[Gorillaz co-founder] Jamie [Hewlett] [feels like we're done], which is fair enough," Albarn said. "I think we were at cross purposes somewhat on that last record, which is a shame. So until a time comes when that knot has been untied..."
For now, "Whirlwind" will have to suffice.
