"Same Love" Singer Mary Lambert Unveils Solo Video of Macklemore Hit
After sharing the stage with Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Jennifer Hudson to perform "Same Love" at the VMAs, Seattle singer-songwriter Mary Lambert is ready for the solo spotlight.
The 24-year-old has crafted "She Keeps Me Warm," her own version derived from the hit hip hop single. Its must-see music video documents the excitement of a blossoming relationship as the self-proclaimed lesbian lands her barista crush. Watch the touching video above.
Sonically, Lambert transforms Macklemore's hip hop joint into a string- and piano-laden ballad centered around Lambert's soft vocals. "Same Love" was a gay rights anthem, and Lambert's rendition continues the fight with lyrics detailing the love between two women: "Love is patient, love is kind... / I could be a morning sunrise all the time, all the time yeah / This could be good, this could be good."
Could? Ahem, more like is.
