Sean Paul Talks Working With Kelly Rowland & Experimenting With New Genres

Dancehall superstar Sean Paul recently sat down with Fuse to talk about his new album, new haircut and working with Kelly Rowland. Here are some highlights:

On working with Kelly Rowland: When I got this track ("How Deep Is Your Love"), I gave her a call. She was very helpful, very willing and very gracious. When I heard this, I thought, "Maybe I should send this to her," and I did and she loved it. Big up to her for helping to make it happen.

On experimenting with new musical styles: I’ve learned a lot of things over the years, and experienced a lot of things: R&B music, working with R&B artists, and there’s a dance phenomenon going on now, so I wanted to blend all that. I don’t really call it a departure from dance hall, I call it an expenditure. I think it really has an edge, which is why I called the new album Tomahawk Technique.

On his new mohawk: I used to have my hair shaved off all the way. Then one day, I was like, "Okay, it’s time." I started shaving one side and then the other, and there was this bush left in the middle. I was like, "You know what? I like that crazy tree growing on my head."
