Girl Talk's Ramones Chant
If there’s a sure way to get a festival crowd pumped up, it’s by booking Pittsburgh mixmaster Girl Talk, aka producer Gregg Gillis. His musical theory: Why have one hit song playing, when you can have two? Hell, why not three? Four? Do it. His mix of classics from every era (his new album 'All Day' has 372 overlapping tracks) had the crowd straight jumpin’, from the pit to the top of the hill. Later, though, he dialed it down to just one song: The Ramones’ “Hey Ho, Let’s Go.” Gillis led the crowd in an a cappela version, hockey game style. People were wild’n’out. Joey Ramone, I hope you’re smiling somewhere.
