This week, for #FutureBlackHistory we are honoring Brittany K. Barnett and MiAngel Cody. The powerhouse team of human rights advocates are working to abolish mass incarceration in the US and are responsible for freeing or reducing the sentences of more than 40 people who were sentenced to life without parole over non-violent drug offenses with the Buried Alive Project and the Decarceration Collective.
Not only have these attorneys reunited families and saved lives, they have also helped provide resources for their clients upon being freed. For their dedication to and unprecedented track record on freeing and uplifting those impacted by mass incarceration as two black women lawyers, Brittany K. Barnett and MiAngel Cody are #FutureBlackHistory.
