André 3000 Is "Always Recording" Music, Would Like to Release Some of It
Erykah Badu's reunion with André 3000 on the But You Caint Use My Phone mixtape's "Hello" is—to be honest, not sure there's a way to adequately express what it is, how brilliant, quite yet. But it really, really got us in our "hurting for some 3 Stacks" zone.
Luckily his new role on ABC's drama American Crime has led to a conversation about his musical future. Asked by Billboard if his acting work (you see him as Jimi Hendrix in All Is By My Side?) blocks his music-brain, he said:
"I still get time to think about music. [Shooting TV and film projects] is not so bad—it kind of puts you in the place where you’re fiending to do music. I’ve been holding [back] for a long time, so now I’m really interested in figuring out some type of music to do. I’m always recording. ... I can’t say that I have a target right now. I’ve gotten in trouble before for saying when or what is coming, so I like to just kind of let it be. I’d like to put out some kind of music project, but we’ll see."
