Scarlett Johansson is no stranger to music, though it always comes as a pleasant surprise when she becomes involved in it. She's covered New Order, Serge Gainsbourg and she's joined Massive Attack in tackling Gershwin. Today she's taking it a step further, announcing a new band (we're calling it a supergroup) featuring bassist Este Haim of HAIM, Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris, and Julia Haltigan.
They're called the Singles, and their first single, "Candy" is here. Listen to it below!
In an interview with Rolling Stone, ScarJo outlined her new project: "The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls." She likened the newly formed group to Grimes, the Bangles, and the Go-Go's, adding "I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra-pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke."
