The littlest Jonas Brother is all grown up, and he's leaving the wholesome, boyish image behind. Following the dissolution of The Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas has returned as a solo artist, free from the limits of Disney power pop and songs about high school.
"Chains" is our first taste of Nick's upcoming full-length and proper solo debut. The song is full-on R&B a la Justin Timberlake. The chorus has Jonas working his vocal range for every note, and we're met with sensual submission when he gives in to the higher notes: "Tryna break the chains, but the chains only break me." We live in a world where Fifty Shades of Grey inspires sultry takes on massive hits, after all.
