Australian teen sensations 5 Seconds of Summer are adamant about not being called a boy band, but that's a hard sell when they're about to embark on their second tour with One Direction. Still, the gents do play their own instruments and worship the likes of Blink-182 and All Time Low instead of 'N Sync or the Backstreet Boys.
Considering that, it makes all the sense in the world that the guys would opt to cover Green Day's "American Idiot" for a Kerrang! Magazine compilation (if they were really a boy band, would they even be considered?) The cover is fairly faithful, but it does have 5SOS flair—most of the boys get to try out a Billie Joe Armstrong verse.
That's right, an Australian band covered an American band for a British magazine. This is like the United Nations of pop-punk.
