Motley Crue's Tommy Lee is the New "Supersonic" Smashing Pumpkins Drummer

UPDATE: Billy Corgan has posted a lengthy explanation as to how the Lee/Pumpkin marriage occurred. He wrote, "I guess I could toss off hyperbole after pronoun, but it would sell short what I like to call ’Supersonic Pumpkins’; which is a descriptor in itself. Tommy hits the drums in a crushing manner, but as many fans know this is not without nuance or reaction; as he has a fantastic ear for music and plays with the songs in a means that only enhances excitement." Original Story: Smashing Pumpkins recently revealed that they're working on new material, with two albums slated for 2015. Today the iconic '90s band posted a photo of Tommy Lee and Billy Corgan with the caption, "Here's a shot from the mission out west. Just finished round 1 of tracking drums with Tommy Lee for the new the Smashing Pumpkins album. Shockla-locka-boom. Yes, that T Lee for all 9 songs of Monument To An Elegy."

So, yeah, the Mötley Crüe bad boy is going full-on alt-rock for 2015! Here's hoping they find some time to tour together!

Hell, given that the Crüe are calling it quits after their next tour, maybe Lee will join the Pumpkins officially? Hey, Corgan's done weirder things before.
