Wu-Tang Clan Return with Triumphant New Track "Keep Watch"
Seven years ago Wu-Tang Clan released 8 Diagrams, their fifth and seemingly final album following the tragic death of Ol' Dirty Bastard.
That changed last year when the legendary hip hop group announced their 20th anniversary and plans for an album of entirely new material. But the full-length, titled A Better Tomorrow, was repeatedly pushed back and the only new Wu music we heard was their track for RZA's film The Man With the Iron Fists.
This is, until now. "Keep Watch" is our first taste of the upcoming album, a single that returns to their classic '90s sound. Guest singer Nathaniel drives the chorus—"Keep watch/ lights out when the beat drops/ keepin' the streets locked/ I'm callin' all G's from each block"—over a pounding beat from long-time Wu-Tang producer Mathematics.
There were a few reasons of the delay: in a recent interview, RZA blamed Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and GZA's lack of participation, and Raekwon tweeted "Keep dreaming" as late as last week.
While no official release date has been announced, A Better Tomorrow is now available for pre-order via Wu Music Group and can be expected later this year.
