Taylor Swift Duets With "Absolute Favorite New Artist" Sam Smith in London
From Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump to Jennifer Lopez to Ellie Goulding to Hunter Hayes, Taylor Swift brought out a slew of A-list duet partners during the North American leg of her Red Tour. And when she hit London on Sunday, Swiftie kept the trend going by bringing out a rising talent she called her "absolute favorite new artist" this year: Sam Smith, hook singer on Disclosure's "Latch" and BBC's "Sound of 2014" winner.
"One of my favorite things about coming to London is that I get to turn on the radio and hear music that we don’t get in America yet," Swift said before bringing the 21-year-old British singer-songwriter on stage. "I hear incredible songs [from] artists that I become obsessed with, and then six months later they become huge hits in America and I get to go, 'I heard that in London six months ago.'" As you can see for yourself in the video below, Taylor took that moment to stop strutting around the stage and flip her hair coquettishly.
"This song and this artist is my absolute new favorite," Swift said as Sam Smith joined her. The two traded vocals on his debut single "Money on My Mind," a soulful electro track that will probably start making waves in the U.S. thanks to Swift's co-sign.
Listen to it below and check out our recent interview with Smith, where the Brit tells Fuse News he's planning on writing his second album in New York after falling in love with the city.
