Robin Thicke Sings "Let's Stay Together" to Estranged Wife Paula Patton
Last week Robin Thicke tried to win back his estranged wife Paula Patton by singing his own hit "Lost Without U." Now, he's turning to the music of Al Green to aid his cause.
The retro-loving R&B singer crooned Green's sultry, classic "Let's Stay Together" on Sunday Night in Atlantic City. After an audience member shouted out, "I love Paula!" to him, Thicke responded, "I do, too," and dedicated the song to her. She was not in the audience.
Patton hasn't commented on Thicke's public pleas to save their marriage, but according to the "Blurred Lines" singer, she wanted him to be honest about their relationship. "She told me, 'You should go out there and tell them the truth—that you're trying to get me back,'" Thicke told his Virginia audience last week. "She's a good woman."
He dedicated "Lost Without U"—a song he originally wrote for his high school sweetheart that's now more poignant than ever—to Patton at his Virginia concert. That show went down four days after the couple announced they'd "mutually decided to separate" after 20 years together, but based on his increasingly candid comments, it seems the split was more her idea than his. As he told the crowd in VA, "I want everybody here to know that I'm trying to get my girl back."
