Avicii's "Wake Me Up" is Spotify's Most-Streamed Song Ever
When Avicii debuted "Wake Me Up" with a live bluegrass band at the dance music mecca Ultra in early 2013, it was met with lots of confusion and anger. But Avicii's bet on his Mumford/EDM mash-up has paid off. The song was one of the biggest chart hits of last year, and today was announced as Spotify's most-streamed song ever.
So, how many streams must one amass to reach the top? Oh, just 200 million. The song, which features starring vocals from Aloe Blacc and behind-the-scenes work from Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger, surpassed Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" as the streaming service's most popular track ever.
Not that the guys of Imagine Dragons should feel too bad: Last week they broke the record for longest run in the history of Billboard's Hot 100.
