Justin Bieber Released After DUI & Drag Racing Arrest: See His Mugshot
UPDATE: Justin Bieber was released from jail after posting $2,500 bail on Thursday afternoon. Not long after, his father, manager and friends tweeted their reactions to his arrest, and haters began an online petition to deport the Canadian pop star from America. His trial begins on March 3.
It's Miami Vice 2014: Justin Bieber was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami for alleged drag racing, a DUI, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest without violence. The 19-year-old pop star reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana that night, according to the Miami Herald.
Police spotted his Lamborghini traveling at high speeds around 4am and gave chase. After pulling over his car, the officer on the scene "immediately smelled an odor of alcohol emanating from the driver's breath and [noticed] bloodshot eyes," according to the police report.
Bieber reportedly berated the officer with a string of expletive-laden questions—"Why the f--k are you doing this?," "What the f--k did I do?"—and briefly resisted arrest. En route to the police station, Bieber reportedly claimed not to be drunk but failed a sobriety test after arriving at the police holding facility. Regardless, Bieber was all smiles when he took his mugshot photo (above).
Bieber appeared in court Thursday at 1pm local time wearing an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. The judge set Bieber's bail at $2,500: $1,000 for his DUI charge, $1,000 for resisting arrest without violence and $500 for driving with an expired license. Attorney Roy Black, who has represented Rush Limbaugh and Kelsey Grammer in the past, served as Bieber's attorney.
This incident comes just nine days after Bieber's friend Lil Za was arrested for drug possession after police raided the pop star's California house—looking for evidence linking JB to an egging incident—and found an allegedly illegal substance they believe to be MDMA.
In addition to his increasingly regular run-ins with the law, Bieber's career isn't doing so well either. His Believe documentary bombed at the box office and he's been threatening to retire from music altogether.
