Metallica are one of the most decorated metal bands of all time, winners of nine past GRAMMY Awards and nominated this year for Best Recording Package (for music from their major motion picture Metallica Through the Never).
But on the red carpet, Lars Ulrich & Co. seemed less interested in winning and more excited for their mash-up collaboration with Chinese classical pianist Lang Lang.
GRAMMYs 2014: Who took home the hardware?
The band explained to Fuse's Jack Osbourne that Lang Lang is the GRAMMYs ambassador to China. The collaboration isn't that odd considering the fact that the metal act has worked with classical musicians in the past, their technical metal lending itself to such highly proficient pairings.

While chatting, Metallica also casually dropped the stunning revelation that this is the first GRAMMYs ceremony that the band's attended in 22 (!!!) years.
