Macklemore Knows You'll Be Pissed If He Wins Best Rap Album GRAMMY
Given the Grammys' tendency to undervalue rap artists and albums, many are expecting the out-of-touch voting academy to name Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' The Heist the Best Rap Album of 2013 over Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city. If that happens, real hip hop fans are gonna be pissed. After all, The Heist is great, but good kid is an instant classic.
But before you begin building a papier mâché Macklemore to burn in effigy, know that the Seattle MC is fully aware that you're pissed at him, and he agrees with you.
"If we win a Grammy for Best Rap Album, hip hop is going to be heated," Macklemore told The Source in his Man of the Year cover story interview. "In terms of [that category], I think it should go to Kendrick. I understand why hip hop would feel like Kendrick got robbed."

But hey, he's not saying to NOT give him a Grammy. And given that The Heist is also nominated for the Album of the Year Grammy, both albums could conceivably win. "I think you can make an argument for both [albums]," Macklemore continued. "We obviously had massive success on commercial radio and I think that, in ways, The Heist was a bigger album, but Kendrick has a better rap album."
No arguments here. It's nice to hear an artist putting ego aside and telling it like it is.
