FUSE TV - Foo Fighters' New Album is "Almost Halfway Done"
UPDATE: Butch Vig—producer of Nirvana's Nevermind and the Foo Fighters' upcoming eighth album—said the Foos' album is "almost halfway done" in an interview with Kerrang. The Garbage drummer (literally) didn't offer much else on the untitled record, however, simply saying, "We've thrown a few things into the mix, in the recording process, that are going to give the record a different sound and a different feel."
Whether this bad boy drops in 2014 is anyone's guess.
Original 1/17 Story: Last November, Dave Grohl gave a brief update on Foo Fighters' upcoming eighth album, telling Rolling Stone, "It’s badass. We’re doing something that nobody knows about, it’s f-cking rad. We begin recording soon, but we’re doing it in a way that no one’s done before and we’re writing the album in a way that I don’t think has been done before."
The group posted the above picture indicating that they're well on their way to finishing the album, as canisters of tape reels are shown adorned with "LP8." That same picture was posted on the band's Instagram page with the caption: "It's f-cking on."
It appears the group are taking the same approach to recording as their last album Wasting Light, preferring analog, reel-to-reel tape to digital recording.
There's still a lot of questions that remain unanswered: What's the title? When is it coming out? How are you doing it in a way "no one's done before"? We'll take this for now, though.
