UK Rockers The 1975 Headed to North America for Spring Tour
Manchester, England's genre-blurring quartet The 1975 are on a one-way track to success, and it's heading back across the Atlantic.
Since BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe introduced their slick, new-wavey single "Sex" to the world in summer 2012, the four lads have built an impressive resume, including a U.K. Top 20 hit ("Chocolate") and gigs opening arenas for Muse and the Rolling Stones. Then this September, The 1975's self-titled debut album—all bright synths, thick grooves and U2-inspired guitar work behind Matthew Healy's diary-poetry vocals—topped the U.K. album charts. Now the boys are headed across the Atlantic for a victory lap around North America.
The 27-date trek kicks off April 17 in San Francisco, then hits all major cities, from Seattle to Toronto to Orlando, before closing out in New Orleans on June 1. Pre-sale for the spring gigs starts on Wednesday, November 20 via The 1975's official website. A live rendition of their single "You" will be available as a free download to pre-sale ticket-buyers. U.S. fans can also buy the digital deluxe version of The 1975 for the first time.
While you await the band's arrival next spring, check out their tender, atmospheric cover of One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" and the video for their single "Sex."
