A Tribe Called Quest to Play "Final" Shows as Kanye West's NYC Opener
If you purchased a ticket to the November 20 & 24 NYC stops of Kanye West's Yeezus Tour, you just bought yourself a piece of hip hop history. A Tribe Called Quest will perform their last-ever shows as the opening act for Kanye and Kendrick Lamar at the Barclays Center (11/20) and Madison Square Garden (11/24).
ATCQ's Q-Tip—who signed to West's G.O.O.D. Music last year—said the pioneering rap crew's farewell shows will take place in their hometown. "It's only right we do our FINAL 2 joints where we started...NYC," Tip tweeted.
If you don't have a ticket to those concerts and are currently sobbing into your keyboard, fear not. Much like Cher, A Tribe Called Quest have implied many of their previous shows are "final." They called it quits in 1998 before reuniting in 2004 and having been performing one-off shows since then. So hopefully this isn't the for-real last we hear from Tribe. But, then again, it could be.
As for the other two NYC Yeezus Tour dates—11/19 at Barclays and 11/23 at MSG—fellow G.O.O.D. Music signee Pusha T is slated to open for Kanye and Kendrick.
