Ariana Grande Is First Female to Send Debut LP to No. 1 Since 2010
Ariana Grande's first album Yours Truly debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week, making the 20-year-old actress/singer the first female to send her debut to the top since Ke$ha's Animal in January 2010.
[Insert obligatory Grande joke here].
Led by Top 40 hits "Baby I" and Mac Miller collab "The Way," the effort sold 138,000 copies, besting three other new highly-anticipated records: Love & War, the sophomore effort from R&B singer/reality TV show personality Tamar Braxton, which settled for No. 2 with 114,000 copies; Hesitation Marks, Nine Inch Nails' first studio album since 2008, which hit No. 3 with 107,000 sold; and Love in the Future, John Legend's latest LP which rounds out the top four with 68,000 sold.
