Daft Punk to Perform "Get Lucky" With Stephen Colbert Tonight
UPDATE: Daft Punk were recently announced as the guests for tonight's episode of The Colbert Report, joining in Colbert's on-going Colbchella, a spoof on the sell-out California music festival. Now a new post on Colbert's website reads, "The electronic music duo Daft Punk helps Stephen perform the song of the summer at this year's Colbchella." The song of the sumer, naturally, is "Get Lucky," which Colbert danced to recently in a cameo on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where he teased Daft Punk's upcoming guest appearance on Colbert. Will Colbert sing in Pharrell's place? Will Nile Rodgers, who is currently in New York City and will guest on Fallon tonight, also join the performance? Tune into to find out!
The robots are coming! The robots are coming! And they're invading your TV!!!
Pitchfork is reporting that Daft Punk will make a rare TV appearance on The Colbert Report next Tuesday, August 6. It has not been revealed whether the duo will perform, be interviewed or maybe throw us all for a loop for another "Accidental Racist" spoof with Colbert.
If they do perform, it will be the first time in support of chart-topping LP Random Access Memories. In fact, as Consequence of Sound points out, the duo haven't performed at all since '07. This is big, guys.
The news comes after the political funnyman crashed last night's episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon for an one-minute dance off to Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" (watch above). Colbert can't contain his excitement .. and neither can we!
