Arcade Fire Tweet Album Release Date to Random Fan
For all his bluster and grandiosity, maybe Jay-Z was onto something when he said the Internet was the "Wild, Wild West." In today's example of #newrules, Arcade Fire told the world when their fourth album would be released via a Tweet to a random fan.
The fan tweeted the innocuous message "You're my favorite" to the group. Taking this compliment to heart, the band replied, "Thanks. Our new album will be out October 29th." The as-yet-untitled album will be the band's first since 2010's Grammy-winning The Suburbs.
Last October, drummer Jeremy Gara stopped by Canadian station CKCU-FM to announce that the band is "in the studio pretty much full-time." The band debuted new material at a secret show in Montreal last December.
As we now know, at least some of the album was produced by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, though it's unclear as of now how much of his work will make it on the new album.
