Slayer Sets Date for Jeff Hanneman Public Memorial
Next Thursday, Slayer will hold a memorial celebration for late guitarist Jeff Hanneman. The co-founding member and guitar all-star passed away at age 49 earlier this month from cirrhosis of the liver.
The four-hour event will be open to the public at Los Angeles' Hollywood Palladium on May 23, but admittance is on a first-come basis. With the event starting at 3:30pm PST, prospective attendees will probably want to get their early to ensure entry into the 4,000-capacity venue.
Although details on what the memorial will entail are scant, expect performances, remembrances and speeches from friends, family and metal compatriots. And if the Westboro Baptist Church follows through on the tweeted threat to picket his memorial, you might want to consider bringing water balloons full of paint, syrup or some other such unpleasant substance.
