Killer Mike, El-P & Big Boi's "Banana Clipper" Collabo Is a New Classic
Underground hip hop hero Killer Mike has teamed up with rapper-producer El-P and Atlanta legend Big Boi to unleash what just may be the sickest rap track of 2013 so far.
Even better: This brittle banger is titled "Banana Clipper."
Operating under the newly-minted moniker Run the Jewels, Mike & El-P have produced a sonically creative, lyrically interesting and fun-as-hell track that's impossible to get out of your head. It's just as awesome as several of the highlights on Mike's 2012 R.A.P. Music album (which El-P produced), but it has a looser, joyful vibe not present on that serious-minded effort.
And Big Boi—who helped break Mike with a prominent feature on OutKast's 2001 hit "The Whole World"—is in top form here. In short, this song kicks ass. Listen to it above and keep your eyes peeled for the full Run the Jewels mixtape this June.
