The Ultimate Supergroup Playlist
We’ve always been fascinated by the idea of “supergroups,” those iconic (or dubious) combinations of members of different bands forming like Voltron into one giant, powerful group. It inspired us to create this Supergroup Playlist, which compiles more than 45 years worth of all-star bands.
Some you’ll definitely recognize, like Cream (considered the first supergroup) and SlaughtaHouse. Others are more obscure, like LSG (an R&B powerhouse of Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill) and Class of ’99 (a combo of Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins and Porno for Pyros bassist Martyn LeNoble that recorded just one song).
Listen to our playlist below and see if you can identify the main members of each group (we won’t tell if you look it up, though).
