Rumor has it ... that Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas and producer extraordinaire Pharrell are contributing to the new Daft Punk album, Random Access Memories, out May 21, NME reports.
If it's true, the duo will join an already star-studded cast for Daft Punk's upcoming LP.
As previously reported, DJs Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter worked alongside producer/Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers, Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams, Animal Collective's Panda Bear, famed disco producer Giorgio Moroder and Chilly Gonzales (who has worked with Animal Collective, Panda Bear and Feist).
Rogers called the album "a step forward" for dance music. "Daft Punk wanted to do something and do it in a way that's not done by just pushing a note or a chord," he said. "You definitely hear that it's nice and full; the drums and the bass have that warm, that full sound.
