Elton John Ends Epic Feud With Madonna
Better late than never? Elton John said in an interview with Extra that he was so done with the Madonna beef.
“We were in a restaurant in France in the summertime,” Sir Elton recalled. “She came in, and I sent over a note. She was very gracious. I apologized profusely because what I said should never have appeared in public.”
So, maybe Elton John could have sent that little note back in 2002 after remarking that Madge's song for "Die Another Day" was "the worst Bond tune ever"—but he didn't.
Instead, he decided to keep the fire alive with a number of nasty outbursts through the years.
In 2004 he accused Madonna of lip-synching during her Re-Invention Tour. He then repeated the accusation years later when he quipped, "Make sure you lip-sync good" before her 2012 Super Bowl performance.
And then, the piece de resistance…
In August of 2012, the "Candle in the Wind" singer declared the following (while praising Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna in the same breath):
"She's such a nightmare. Her career's over, I can tell you that. Her tour's been a disaster, and it couldn't have happened to a bigger c--t. And she looks like a f--king fairground stripper."
Umm...ouch!
But that's OK, Queen Madge apparently decided to take the high road.
“She accepted our apology, and then we bought her dinner,” John said. “That’s over and done with. She was fantastic. She was just like, ‘Okay, let’s get a move on.’”
Wow, Elton! That must have been one reeeeally good meal!
