A recently unearthed video offers a startling revelation about the formation of beloved indie electronic duo the Postal Service: Ben Gibbard wasn't the only one vying for vocal duties! As this never-before-seen footage from 2002 shows, everyone from Moby to Aimee Mann to Weird Al to Blink-182's Tom DeLonge to Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan auditioned to be the singer.
Okay, so it's not real footage—it's actually just a new Funny or Die video. But it's hysterical and brilliantly cast. Aside from Moby's GG Allin-esque scream-fest, the best audition is Duff McKagan, who a Sub Pop Records rep doesn't believe was in GnR ("We all know who's in Guns N' Roses, man, it's Axl, Slash, the guy in the top hat and Buckethead!")
