Daft Punk Sign With Columbia for New Album
After three albums with Virgin/EMI, Daft Punk have signed a new deal with Columbia Records and prepping their fourth studio album, Billboard reports.
No official release date has been announced, but helmet-wearing DJs Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter may drop the LP as early as this spring. Daft Punk have been in the studio working with Producer/Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers.
Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams, famed disco producer Giorgio Moroder and Chilly Gonzales (who has worked with Animal Collective, Panda Bear and Feist) are all also reportedly working with Daft Punk.
Columbia Records seems intent on bringing EDM's legacy artists to the label; Daft Punk joins Depeche Mode, who signed with Columbia and will release their 13th album on March 26.
