Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, fun., Mumford & Sons Lead 2013 Grammy Noms
Wednesday night in Nashville, a beatboxing Taylor Swift and a crooning LL Cool J revealed the 2013 Grammy nominees.
Rap giants/musical BFFs Jay-Z and Kanye West scored six nominations apiece, as did Frank Ocean, fun. and Mumford & Sons. Both Frank Ocean and fun.—two of 2012's biggest breakthrough artists—will compete in the Best New Artist Grammy category alongside Alabama Shakes, the Lumineers and Hunter Hayes.
Rock music dominated the Album of the Year category. LPs from the Black Keys, fun., Mumford & Sons and Jack White are all up for the big award, as is Frank Ocean's Channel Orange. Speaking of the Black Keys, the garage rock duo is up for five Grammys, with singer Dan Auerbach scoring a sixth nod as a producer.
As for T-Swizzy, she earned three nominations but two of them were for her collabo track with the Civil Wars. So it looks like she can probably give her trademarked surprise face a rest on February 10, 2013.
