Mega pop stars Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have ended their relationship, E! reports.
The Associated Press confirms that the breakup happened last week, and cites distance and their hectic schedules as reasons why the two couldn't maintain their relationship.
Bieber, 18, and Gomez, 20, made their first public appearance as a couple in February of 2011. (Check out our complete photo timeline of their relationship.) But rumors have been circulating that the young couple were on the fritz since October 30th when the “Boyfriend” singer posted an Instagram photo of himself with the caption: “Lingse.” Fans speculated that this was an anagram for “single.” The Biebs later deleted the image.
Earlier this week, Bieber performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (see all the pictures and watch several models dancing "Gangnam Style") and was later seen hanging with VS model Barbara Palvin. USA Today reports that Palvin also popped up in a Twitter photo with Bieber and rapper Lil Twist. Gomez then retweeted the photo with a simple response: " . . . " Those tweets have also since been deleted.
Although the relationship is over, at least Selena—and the world—will always have this.
