Trent Reznor's How to Destroy Angels Drops New Track, "Keep It Together"
Since Trent Reznor said it was time for Nine Inch Nails to "disappear for a while" back in 2009, he's been a busy (and ever more buff) man.
With his longtime collaborator Atticus Ross, he's recorded film soundtracks, including The Social Network, which the duo won a Golden Globe and an Oscar, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (both directed by David Fincher). He and Ross also formed the band How to Destroy Angels (er, How to destroy angels_), featuring Reznor's Playboy Playmate wife Mariqueen Maandig on vocals. The group released a self-titled EP in 2010, and have now teamed with Columbia (a move that Reznor felt warranted an explanation) to release a new EP, An omen_ (out November 13), and their debut full-length in 2013. Now we have the first taste of that EP with "Keep it together." Listen above.
The track, which may appear on next year's LP, is exactly what we've come to expect from Reznor these days: dark, shadowy, computerized blips and bloops, skittering background effects and Maandig and Reznor's voices coalescing in spine-tingling doom. The digital Armageddon never sounded so frighteningly good/real (music supervisors, take note).
