Taylor Swift Still Doesn't Know What John Mayer Thinks About "Dear John"
When Taylor Swift put her ex John Mayer on blast in her Speak Now song "Dear John" in 2010, girls everywhere who have ever been wronged by a dude screamed out a resounding, "F--k yes!" John Mayer, on the other hand, did not. About the song (in which Taylor asks "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?"), Mayer told Rolling Stone earlier this year, "I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do." It almost made us feel a little bad for him. Almost.
So, how does Taylor Swift feel about hurting John Mayer's feelings? She doesn't care. Well, sort of—she doesn't even know what Mayer said about the song.
Taylor stopped a recent interview with Glamour when she was about to learn what Mayer said about "Dear John": "No! I don’t want to know, I don’t want to know." Swift continued, "I know it wasn't good, so I don’t want to know. I put a high priority on staying happy, and I know what I can't handle... It's not that I'm this egomaniac and I don’t want to hear anything negative, because I do keep myself in check. But I've never developed that thick a skin... If you go too far down the rabbit hole of what people think about you, it can change everything about who you are."
It's not that we disagree with Swift, but we're just kind of wondering how she missed that whole thing. We know she's on Twitter and Facebook, so she must have come across John's remarks somewhere. Or maybe she still has dial-up.
