Taylor Swift Expected to Sell 1 Million Copies of 'Red' in First Week
Taylor Swift's Red is on pace to sell over one million copies in its first week, a feat which would make T-Swift the first female artist to have multiple albums break the seven-digit sales mark in one week.
Red moved 500,000 copies on its first day alone, including a mind-boggling 160,000 at Target stores alone. It also appears that Swift broke records at the iTunes Music Store, which reportedly accounted for over half of Red's first day sales.
Swift's 2010 album, Speak Now, sold 1.047 million its first week. Only three other musical acts have had two albums surpass one million in a week: 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys and Eminem. It's worth noting that those three acts all accomplished the feat over a decade ago, which, considering how the record industry has changed since, makes Swift's achievement even more impressive.
