Rihanna Announces Worldwide 777 Tour
If you're the type of person who likes to find themes and trends in the music industry, mark 2012 as "The year of the ambitious, record-setting tour." In June, Flaming Lips played eight shows in a 24-hour period. Last week, the Melvins wrapped up 51 shows in 50 states. Now, Rihanna is taking that ethos global, announcing seven shows in seven countries in seven days in her upcoming 777 tour.
Sponsored by HTC, the tour kicks off Nov. 14, though a complete list of cities where RiRi will perform were not available. A small group of "Rihanna Navy" fan club members and journalists will board a Boeing 777 twinjet and travel to each of the singer's shows. We're still awaiting details on how to purchase 777 tickets, but we'll pass those along as soon as we hear.
Unapologetic, Rihanna's seventh album, is set for release Nov. 16, so the Barbadian singer is in full promotional mode, appearing on Saturday Night Live Nov. 10 and prepping $250 versions of the album.
