Billie Joe Armstrong Rushed to Hospital in Italy
UPDATE: Footage hit the Internet of Billie Joe Armstrong leaving the hospital and mouthing "my voice is gone" as an explanation for his stay. But thinking out loud here, we have to wonder why his bandmates didn't disclose this commonplace ailment in the video above. (Maybe Armstrong just didn't feel like talking to the reporters dogging him?)
Following an emergency Saturday night hospital stay that forced Green Day to cancel Sunday's concert in Italy, punk frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has reportedly been released.
Although his exact illness remains unspecified, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool uploaded a video to YouTube on Sunday commenting on the unexpected hospital stay.
"Billie got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness and the doctors don't think it's a good idea for him to play today," Dirnt said in the clip above. "This sucks."
"We're beyond devastated," Cool added. "We're as sad as you guys are. Billie's extremely upset about it and we'll see you very soon."
The band's spokesperson was unavailable for comment at press time.
Fortunately, Armstrong's hospital gig proved short-lived: The father of two was reportedly released on Monday, giving him plenty of time to recover before Green Day rocks iHeartRadio Music Festival on September 21.
