In a candid new interview with old acquaintance and Australian journalist Molly Meldrum, Elton John said some lovely things about parenting his son Zachary. He also said some unlovely things about longtime frenemy Madonna, so let's skip straight to those: "She's such a nightmare. Her career's over, I can tell you that. Her tour's been a disaster, and it couldn't have happened to a bigger c--t." Is that all, Elton? No? "And she looks like a f--king fairground stripper. She's been so horrible to Gaga." (Bonus: The comments were supposedly meant to be off the record! And the segment of the video featuring them does look a little "we're taking a break for a moment"-ish...)
The Lady Gaga mention gives Elton a jumping-off point to discuss how much he admires young singers like her, Katy Perry and Rihanna. Weaving his way out of the Madonna-Hate Swamp, Elton begins fawning over Gaga's godmotherhood to young Zachary. "She's amazing—wherever she is in the world she sends texts saying 'How is he?' She comes and bathes him, she sings to him. She's a good godmother, she really pays attention." Translation: Who needs "Express Yourself" when you've got "Born This Way"?
