MGK Says His Debut "Is Probably the Best Album of the Decade"
MGK—the XXL Freshman whose raw, fast flow earned him a devoted fanbase—certainly doesn't lack in confidence. When Fuse caught up with the Ohio MC on the set of his "Invincible" video shoot, he told us why his 50 Cent-inspired debut album is going to knock you (and the GRAMMY competition) out.
"My upcoming album Lace Up is going to be probably the best album of the decade," MGK tells us with casual bravado. "It's very reminiscent of the feeling you get when you listen to 50's Get Rich or Die Tryin'. I wrote most of this album before I was signed, so it has a very raw feel and I believe it's going to the GRAMMYs."
MGK also explains how his latest single "Invincible" relates to the daughter he welcomed into the world when he was just 18. "It's [about] being invincible through small things in life. Example: There's a scene in the hospital with me in a reenactment of my baby mother and our child. [Even with] all the sh*t I did in the relationship, at the end of the day, when all the bullsh*t comes, me and her come together for our child."
"I had a kid when I was in a bad position financially and a bad position in life period," says MGK. "But I came out on top. My daughter has a college fund now and I'm happy."
