My Chemical Romance Replace Blink-182 at Bamboozle
Blink-182 fans woke up to some crappy news this morning (May 10), as the band announced on their website that they've canceled all North American tour dates in May as a result of drummer Travis Barker's recovery from an emergency tonsillectomy.
"Blink-182's drummer, Travis Barker, required an urgent tonsillectomy with a recovery period expected to extend beyond the scheduled tour dates," the group said in a statement. "The band apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of these cancellations and thanks their fans for their ongoing support."
While Barker subsists on an ice cream-and-jello diet for the next month or so, My Chemical Romance has gamely stepped up to replace the band for their planned headlining set at Bamboozle on May 19. Good on them.
The band have rescheduled two Oklahoma shows for September, but have canceled six East Coast shows.
So yeah, bummer for Blink fans. Good news for MCR fans.
