Adam Lambert Responds To Jay-Z's Gay Marriage Endorsement
After President Barack Obama announced his support for gay marriage, his favorite rapper/biggest celebrity fan Jay-Z also came out in support of equal marriage rights. When Fuse spoke with Adam Lambert—who recently became the first openly gay man to hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200—we asked him what he thought about Jay-Z's endorsement of gay marriage.
"What's powerful about it is that hip hop culture has become the new rock and roll in many ways. Hip hop is such a driving force of pop culture and there's so much masculinity associated with the hip hop community," says Lambert.
"Guys look up to Jay-Z. So for somebody like that—with such a high profile and respect—to come out and say, 'Look, this is how I feel about it,' it's setting a great example. I think he's following the same footsteps as the president and saying, 'Look, it's cool, chill.' I think it's a beautiful thing that they've been so outspoken about it."
