When Nicki Minaj visited a radio station in early April to discuss her new album, she was asked about her upcoming video for "Starships," noting, “When it comes out it’s going to be very saucy and very exciting and it’s going to be lots of fun and probably going to be my best one yet.” Now you can judge for yourself how true those words are.
Directed by Anthony Mandler, who previously helmed Rihanna's "Man Down" and multiple videos for Drake, "Starships" opens with people more beautiful than us lounging in exotic places we'll never visit. Like some reverse Island of Dr. Moreau, everyone on our video island is flawless, with a bikini-clad Nicki arriving and turning the entire island into a giant, hedonistic, paint- and fire-filled beach party.
