Update: Melvins' Van With Kurt Cobain's Artwork SOLD!
UPDATE: SOLD for $24,000!
Why is a busted 1972 Dodge Sportsman Royal Van selling on eBay right now for a cool $6,100, and still hasn't even reached its reserve price? Because it's a piece of alt-rock history: The "MELVAN" was the touring van of Washington State sludge metal vets The Melvins, and more importantly, it features a mural of the band KISS hand-drawn by The Melvins' good friend Kurt Cobain.
According to the van's seller Tad Doyal, frontman of the Seattle grunge band Tad, the mural was drawn using Sharpie markers that were stolen from a Thriftway grocery story in Montesano, Wash., where Buzz Osborne, the lead singer of The Melvins, used to work. We're not sure who exactly stole the Sharpies, but for the purpose of making Tad Doyle just a little richer, let's just pretend it was Cobain. [The Daily Swarm]
